Lapis Lazuli is a stone which has been beloved since ancient times, and was popular in ancient Greek, Roman and Egyptian cultures. It was historically ground down and used as a pigment for paint to decorate palaces, mosques and churches, and famously Cleopatra used it to make eyeshadow. Some believe it to be a stone promoting friendship and honesty, and believe it to have strong healing properties.
Howlite in its natural form is white with grey & black markings; however due to its highly porous nature it is often dyed, and commonly used to imitate Turquoise. Some believe Howlite to be a calming stone, helpful in quieting the thoughts and aiding mindfulness. It is also said to help improve sleep and can help to reduce anger and tension.
One of the world's best loved gemstones, Turquoise can be found in shades of opaque blue, green and yellow, and is the traditional birthstone for December. It has been prized by many cultures since ancient times across Asia, the Americas and Africa. It is believed by some to have balancing properties and to promote clear communication, being associated with the Throat Chakra.
Each piece is handmade using natural materials, so stones may vary slightly — a sign of their authenticity.
