Garnet is the traditional birthstone for January, and the stone for 2nd anniversaries. Best known in its deep red colour, it in fact comes in many shades including green, amber and pinkish-purple. It was popularly used in signet rings in ancient Rome. Some believe Garnet to be a balancing, grounding stone.
