Chalcedony is actually a family of minerals including Agate and Jasper, but the term Chalcedony is often used specifically in relation to the pale blue mineral as used here. Considered a sacred stone by some Native American tribes, Chalcedony has also been found in the jewellery and artefacts of many ancient cultures including the Romans, Greeks, Assyrians and Babylonians. Some believe it to be a calming clarifying stone which aids in communication.
